Char Siu (Honey Barbecue Pork)



Pork Butt 400g
Honey / Maltose 1 Tablespoon
Rose Wine Little


Char Siu Sauce 3 Tablespoons
Soy Sauce 1/2 Tablespoon
Brown Sugar 2/3 Tablespoon




  1. Wash and pat the pork butt dry. Marinate it with the marinade for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
  2. Grease a baking rack and place the marinated pork butt on it. Place the baking rack on a baking tray with tin foil, then put it into the Superheated Steam Oven
  3. .Select「Steam / Superheated Steam」mode and set it to Hybrid (no preheat). Adjust the temperature to 200°C and bake for 30 minutes fisrt. Flip the pork butt 2-3 times during the baking process, and brush with the marinade on top for color.
  4. After 30 minutes of baking, take out the pork butt and brush it with honey. Put it back in the Superheated Steam Oven.
  5. Adjust the temperature to 220°C and bake for 2 minutes more.
  6. Take out and lightly spray the surface with rose wine.
  7.  Let it cool for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.



  1. If you don't have much time to marinate the meat, you can use a fork to poke some holes on the surface of the pork to make the marinade to be absorbed more easily.
  2. You can use white sugar instead of brown sugar.
  3. If you don't like the taste of rose wine, you can use rice wine or Shaoxing wine instead while marinating.
  4. This is a basic recipe, you can try adding a little Sweet Bean Sauce, Hoisin Sauce, Chili Bean Paste, or Chu Hou Paste for additional favor!
